Noise is minimal so easy on the ears. Angle cuts straight cuts with no dust. Light weight, easy to cut, no dust, who could ask for anthing more. This is the best thing since bubble gum. This baby cuts through concrete siding like a hot knofe through butter. If doing siding with concrete siding I highly recommend this little babe.
I explained this to the DeWalt Warranty people on their toll free line. I was giving it very light usage, cutting 1/4 inch HardieBacker. Obviously there was a defect. It worked great. Thanks DeWalt. I was very disappointed because the whole house is torn up and the job is stuck intil I get a new tool.
and they fixed it fast. I just bought one of these cement shears. but one of the side knives broke within the first half hour of use. They had a new side knife here in less than 24 hours.
A few years go by and my brother wants to do the siding on the back apartment so I started to do some research on alternatives to cutting Hardie Board and decided on the Dewalt Cement board shears and it was the best investment and NO DUST. I helped my brother in the law several years ago do the Hardie Board siding on the main house and what a mess it was cutting with a circular saw, it was after that experience that I knew there had to be a better way to cutting Hardie board. I read a few of the other reviews in which the tool was given a low rating and I'm skeptical because I've never had a Dewalt fail on me, in fact my 12 volt drill which gets used all the time and purchased in 1997 still has the same batteries.
Produces little, to no dust. Well worth every penny. Great tool for a do-it-yourselfer. Highly recommend it.
On line the price is $68-$79 for this small piece. The bolts that held the head together broke several times and I was able to find bolts that fit at my local hardware store. I'd rather pay extra for another one than keep going down this road. First, I am sold on using the shears vs the circular saw because of the dust. I have been a faithful DeWalt user, but this tool's performance had really disappointed me.For now, using a dusty saw in hot Florida. But now part of the head called the 'eccentric' broke.
By the way, I am only about 1/2 around the house at this point, so the 'heavy duty' name for this tool leaves me questioning. I bought one of these to help me re-side the house. However, I have had three breakdowns on this shear, so I'm going to try another brand (maybe Pacific., but $$, but it has high ratings). I assume this must break often, because it is way out of line with all of the other parts, so I feel like I would be getting gouged for the $.
